Based on a project from Typography II, this type specimen postcard series combines my love of type with unexpected plays of color, scale and depth to showcase the unique personality of each typeface. The original assignment was to choose a typeface from a list provided by our instructor and create a type specimen poster featuring a quote from a graphic design icon. Using the original constraints, black, white, and one accent color, I expanded the project into a series of fourteen postcards.

This project challenged me into thinking outside the traditional “type specimen box.” I was able to explore fun and interesting techniques that highlight the beauty of these letterforms, and through the process, each postcard made me fall in love with typography even more.
